I'm back to Blogging! Lot's of stuff to post from the past few months, but I'll take my time with it to keep up a consistency:) Here's an illustration I did at Codefire for a shut down TCG we were working on last December. I always see baby dragons done as lizards(which make sense), but I wanted to do something a little different, so I dug up some referense of tree frogs and painted this.

I've been off the blog for while dealing with some medical issues, but I've picked up my stylus again and am getting back to business. I'm also excited to say that I am now the Digital Colorist for one of Red 5 Comics launch titles; Afterburn. I'm very excited and supposed to get started within the next week.

I've been working pretty exclusively with Sketchbook Pro recently and I'm feeling restricted by the airbrush tool so I thought I'd try something a little different. Here's an old Warcraft sketch I did of an Orc that I dug out and tried it out in Photoshop. I think I'll experiment a little more using this style.

I got a new Pen Tablet at work and I wanted to try it out, so I did up a pic of an old character I used to draw way back in my comic book days. The tablet is smaller than my one at home, but I do like the sensitivity.

This is my second attempt at this BG. I actually got out some reference for trees and looked at the concept for color palette this time and it made me much happier. Now I just have to decide on whether or not I want to paint in the tower he is looking up at, or if it should be more of a 2d image like he will be. Oh yeah, and the Tauren spirit is just for kicks.

I did my first color Concept for the film and I think it turned out pretty good. I haven't really ever worked on a painting before without laying it out in pencils ahead of time. It was interesting to me, so I'm posting it up in the four stages I did it in.

I went home and realized the problems with the last sketch. He doesn't have the right fangs to look like an orc, but I'm leavin' it up anyways. I'm trying to feel out how painty I can be in Alias's Sketchbook(one of the best programs ever), but for the painting end, I can't really get in and detailed like I can in Photoshop or Painter. Hey look, it didn't even take me a day to do some new art. These are concept sketches for a short that I will be doing the character animation on for Demzignant Studios' John Olson. It's a personal project of his that I've been helping him to develop visually and this is the main character. For now, I think he is simply named "boy".
